This in essence, varies very little from traditional ASP. A true cloud offering requires data streaming over the public internet, even if QoS or the like is enabled.

On the licensing front, I thought the onus was on the Hosted Provider (or Telco) to purchase the Genesys' licences upfront and outright before they rejig it into a subscription-like model? I'd call that a bastardized SaaS model!

A little perspective beyond the marketing spin is what's needed here!

Re: Exodus Software releases License Audit Service for Genesys

HI,

I've had some direct enquiries with concerns about both commercial and also technical licensing across the Genesys Solutions. To clarify;

>This Service provides a low-level insight into the number of Seat Licenses currently in use for Inbound Voice, Outbound Voice and Multimedia Channels across a single Genesys Platform.
>The cost saving aspect is related to a possible reduction in the number of licenses within the *support* contract - not in the number of licenses originally purchased.
>30% reduction is typical for Inbound and Multimedia however it can be much higher saving for Outbound, where a customer only runs "Campaigns" on an irregular basis with a small number of staff.

Thanks,

Tony

Re: Celebrating 100 Facebook fans

Please DM me your email so I can send you a copy. The company maintains a very open relationship with the security community and we view this as vital to helping protect our customers’ networks. We have spoken with both the conference organizers and presenters ahead of the upcoming AusCERT 2011 tutorial on VoIP Security Testing. They have confirmed that no new security vulnerabilities will be revealed. We understand their presentation will reference the importance of securing IP phones in line with the manufacturer’s installation and configuration recommendations. We support this message and recommend it as a best practice for our customers.

Re: Guest post: AT&T-Mobile and the Thank You Economy
Oh thanks, i appriciate that!
Re: Alcatel-Lucent inches closer to selling enterprise business

Thanks Eugene - some of us were itching for news.....

Re: WWJD about Cisco?

You do realize Genesys also works with Cisco contact center products, among many others.

The article was about Cisco returning to its data networking roots. That's why the company is cutting off Flip and restructuring its consumer business. Not saying that contact center products should be shed, but at this point all options are on the table if Chambers is serious about steering the company in another direction -- one that'll satisfy shareholders. (And I'm neither a CSCO or ALU shareholder.)

You can offer readers your viewpoints or continue to troll behind the veil of anonymity. I hope for the former because I believe readers wouldn't mind a dissenting discussion from somebody from Cisco (based on your IP address).

Re: WWJD about Cisco?

Difficult to elaborate something with Genesys consultant

Re: WWJD about Cisco?

You're welcomed to elaborate on your difference of opinion...

Re: WWJD about Cisco?

Do you guys really know what you are talking about??

Re: WWJD about Cisco?

F***-off

[Obscenity censored by Moderator]

Re: Guest post: AT&T-Mobile and the Thank You Economy

The losers will be the thousands of small companies and their employees that depend on T-Mobile's construction work. Enterprise schmenterprise, if they want to bring video and Vidyo to the masses, their business model should be (and probably is) geard toward service providers.

BTW, Radvision is one competitor to Vidyo that is also pushing SVC in the enterprise.
http://www.radvision.com/Visua...

Also, do you have a short list of some of the things that are lost when trying to make other dedicated systems integrate with a Vidyo system?
